We are a group of small animal practices based in Bideford, South Molton and Torrington, first established in 1917. We are passionate about animal care and our skilled team are dedicated to providing the highest quality care for your animals. Because we love animals and strive to provide excellent continuity of care, our practices are open six days of the week with access to 24-hour emergency care. For your added convenience, there’s free parking for clients at the Bideford and South Molton practices.
Cathryn joined Horsepond Veterinary Centre in 1997 after gaining her Veterinary Science degree at Bristol University. Initially she did farm as well as small animal but since 2008 has just concentrated on small animals. She enjoys all aspects of veterinary work but is mainly interested in medical cases. She currently works at the Bideford Hospital and South Molton branch.
Lucy Davies BVetMed MRCVS
Lucy graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in 2008, and joined the team at Torbridge in 2013. She is currently undertaking a post graduate qualification in Emergency and Critical Care. Lucy enjoys all aspects of small animal medicine and surgery, and has a particular interest in the care of our most critically ill patients admitted into the hospital.
Ruth Ferguson BVSc MRCVS
Ruth graduated from the University of Liverpool in 2004 and joined the small animal team at Torbridge Veterinary Hospital in 2008. Ruth has a particular interest in small animal diagnostic imaging and canine medicine.
Kirsty Hambley BVetMed MRCVS
Kirsty graduated from the Royal Vet College in 2009. She has worked at various practices in Devon and joined us at Torbridge in 2016. She is currently partway through a BSAVA Certificate in Small Animal Medicine. She has a particular interest in oncology and medicine in general. Outside of work she can be found on the netball court, cricket pitch or playing with her young daughter.
Rachael Headon BVSC PGCertSAM MRCVS
Rachael graduated from Bristol University in 2009 and joined the Torbridge team in 2011. Rachael has recently completed the BSAVA (British Small Animal Veterinary Association) post graduate Certificate in Small Animal Medicine. It was a three year course, which included lectures, written and spoken exams and a 10-case casebook.
Eleanor graduated as a vet from Dublin University in 2006 and joined Torbridge in 2014. She holds two General Practitioner Certificates - in Feline Practice (2012) and Dermatology (2017). She is particularly interested in itchy skin and smelly ears.
Emily Witherow BVM&S GPcert (Felp) MRCVS
Emily joined Torbridge in 2000 and after some years in mixed practice has focused on companion animal work. Her interests are in small animal dentistry and medicine, she gained a General Practitioner Certificate in Feline Medicine in 2004. She is involved in nurse training and clinical governance. Her working days are divided between all three branches.
